Man killed in motorcycle crash Thursday night identified

Police said speed was a factor in the crash. Springer was not wearing a helmet, the medical examiner's report said.

A 37-year-old Waukesha man was killed in a motorcycle crash just before 10 p.m. Thursday in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as James Springer.

Milwaukee police said Springer was traveling southbound on the Sixth Street viaduct from downtown to the near south side.

He lost control of the motorcycle on the slope and slight curve at the end of the bridge and struck the curb.

Police said speed was a factor in the crash. Springer was not wearing a helmet, the medical examiner's report said.
