The Mukwonago Fire Chief stated that the department first got a call for two or three vehicles involved in a crash on Wisconsin 83 near East Wolf Run around 8:50 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they realized many more vehicles were involved.

"There were somewhere between 10-15 vehicles involved," said Stien.

He said the first vehicle involved was pulling a trailer, and may have encountered black ice or a snow drift. Officials describes all the collisions afterwards as a chain reaction.

One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both lanes were shut down while police and firefighters responded to the large accident scene. Highway 83 was reopened to traffic at 10 a.m.
