Pregnant woman seriously injured in Racine hit-and-run

"In the process of crossing the street, the closer I get, the more I realize what's going on and the people involved, so I noticed the little girl, and it's Lydia, which is my girlfriend Genie's daughter, so instantly I know it's Genie on the ground. The scariest feeling I've ever had in my life," Webb's boyfriend, Daniel Mitchell, said.

“This is very serious and we need any information we can get and we definitely want this driver to turn themselves in,” Racine Police Sgt. Jessie Metoyer said.

Emergency delivery after pregnant woman struck by SUV

Genie Webb’s cousin, Ashley Gomez, said she hopes anyone who was in the area of Goold and Main streets Tuesday night and may have seen something will come forward with whatever information they have. “We all want this person to be caught,” Gomez said. “Turn yourself in,” she urged the hit-and-run driver.

Police: Wisconsin crash suspect to turn himself in

Police said Wednesday the man contacted police by phone Tuesday night after seeing a television newscast identifying him as the suspect in the Nov. 4 crash.

Genie Webb and he 3 year old daughter Lydia were passing through a crosswalk when they were struck by a passing vehicle. Webb, who was 38 weeks pregnant at the time, threw her daughter to safety and fortunately suffered only a minor ankle injury. Her baby was delivered by Casarean section and is doing fine. Police are searching for the vehicle that hit her, a late model gray SUV. Anyone with information is asked to call 262-635-7768.
