Orlan W. Knuth, 35, and Joshua B. Lee, 31, were friends or neighbors who got into a verbal argument at a local bar. As Lee was walking down the shoulder of Highway 2, Knuth struck and killed him with his vehicle, though he claims that he didn't know he hit a person and thought he hit a mailbox post or guardrail. He has been booked into jail for vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.

A man was ejected several feet into the air from his vehicle when he collided with another car, but was fortunately only 500 feet away from a fire station when the crash occurred. The close proximity to emergency services was likely instrumental in saving the man's life, and though he was still injured, is expected to be okay. The two occupants of the other vehicle sustained only minor injuries.

Just before 5 a.m., a red Subaru crossed the center line on Trent Avenue at Barker Road and hit the tractor trailer head on. The Subaru driver sustained critical injuries, and the semi driver suffered minor ones. Check back for updates.

A Spokane Valley police officer on his way to a call around 10:30 p.m. Friday hit a teenage bicyclist at Sprague Avenue and Vista Road. The officer was heading west on Sprague. Witnesses said the officer tried to avoid the teen, but clipped the bike and sent him spinning. Signs placed at the scene of the crash and Facebook posts identify him as 15-year-old Ryan Holyk, a former West Valley High School student. Tim Viall had just arrived at Charlie P’s, a restaurant and bar at Sprague and Vista, when he heard a screech and thud from the collision.

A truck hit a pole Friday morning in North Spokane and closed all lanes along Monroe near Fairview. Two people were taken to the hospital according to firefighters on the scene. Both of the people were in the truck. Spokane police said the people were expected to be okay, although a female passenger suffered serious injuries after the vehicle's right tire pushed into her. The driver was able to get out of the truck under his own power. Officers at the scene said the truck was going southbound and lost control. However, it was not immediately known what caused the driver to lose control.

Ali Muhammad Altharwa, 19, was still in critical condition Friday night at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. Two passengers were also injured: a 19-year-old man who was seriously injured and a 17-year-old girl who was thrown from the car but only sustained minor injuries. A news release said speed and alcohol were factors in the accident. Altharwa was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro on Country Homes Boulevard around 11:20 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle at the left curve at Excel Drive.

Nathan Higley, 18, of Spokane, walked away with a bruised arm after a crash involving a school bus at the corner of Mission Avenue and Washington Street in Spokane on Wednesday. Higley, on his way to the Spokane Skills Center, was traveling east at the intersection while the bus was headed north. The bus driver was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Investigators believe a fatal car accident discovered in the 25800 block of East River Road near Otis Orchards at 4 p.m. today actually occurred around 7 p.m. Wednesday. A 911 caller reported seeing a car about 150 feet down an embankment on the north side of the Spokane River and what appeared to be a body near the car. It appears that the driver was heading east when the car went down the embankment and rolled multiple times. The woman, later identified as Jordyn Bouquet, 23, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected.

Don J. Foster suffered injuries to his head, chest, arms and legs in the hit-and-run accident that happened just before 9 p.m. Sunday. The medical examiner ruled the death an accident. A witness told police Foster was walking south across Mission Avenue on the east side of a bridge spanning the Spokane River when he was first hit. Investigators are still looking for a tan or gold SUV that is believed to be the first vehicle that struck Foster. The force of that impact sent him into the westbound lanes where he was hit at least twice more.
