A Newport News police officer suffered a medical emergency while on duty Thursday afternoon, causing the police cruiser she was driving to travel across Denbigh Boulevard, striking two civilian vehicles.

A state police trooper is facing drunken driving charges after crashing his police cruiser in Ashford last week, according to state police. A State police spokesman said 43-year-old David Lavoie crashed on Route 44 in Ashford shortly after midnight Wednesday. Lavoie’s police cruiser was heavily damaged and the trooper was injured. He was treated Windham Hospital. After his release, Lavoie was charged with drunken driving and failure to maintain a lane, Vance said. A sergeant responding to the crash took Lavoie’s handgun and other police equipment, according to state police.

An Indiana State Police trooper was involved in a crash on the city’s northwest side on Tuesday morning. According to police, the trooper was investigating several slide offs in the area of Interstate 865 at the 4 mile marker. A semi approaching the scene lost control, and the trailer swung around, striking the trooper’s car. Dispatchers say the trooper was inside of the car at the time of the crash. Officials say the trooper was alert and conscious at the scene. He was complaining of neck and back pain.

Authorities said a 15-year old boy led state police on a nine-mile pursuit Sunday morning, ramming into two police cars before losing control of his vehicle and overturning on a busy stretch of Interstate 95 in Spotsylvania County. The incident closed several northbound lanes of 1-95 in Spotsylvania County, just past exit 126, police said.

A woman was arrested for DUII after she pulled a U-turn and crashed into cops early Saturday morning, police said. Around 3:20 a.m., 25-year-old Aphinity Marday Jumping Bull was driving west on North Lombard Street near Commercial Avenue with officers right behind her, said a Sgt. with Portland police. Jumping Bull pulled a U-turn in her 2004 Chevy Impala and slammed into the police car. She then drove off but only made it to North Kerby Avenue before her car broke down, Simpson said.

A state police trooper was hurt when his stationary cruiser was struck from behind by a woman who has been charged with drunken driving. A department spokesman says Trooper Mark Lombardi was treated at a hospital and released after being struck at about 10:30 p.m. Monday on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Boston. His blue lights were on while he protected a maintenance crew performing light pole inspections. The force of the impact tipped over the woman’s SUV. Police say 45-year-old Ann Lyn King of Worcester faces a number of charges including operating under the influence.

A state trooper involved in a collision in Baltimore was taken to Shock Trauma Monday afternoon. Authorities said another car collided with the state trooper around 2:30 p.m. in the area of North Avenue at Bloomingdale Road. The trooper suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The condition of the other driver was not immediately released. A cause of the crash remained under investigation.

Two construction workers were transported after a three-car accident took place just before 2 p.m. Thursday at I-10 and Culebra on the upper deck, according to SAPD. The incident started with a San Antonio ISD bus stalled on I-10 near Culebra on the upper deck headed to Edison, SAPD said. A SAPD patrol car was parked behind the bus while maintenance was being done.

Houston police arrested a woman Thursday morning after officers said she drove the wrong way on the road and crashed into a patrol car. Officers said that woman was driving on Almeda around 12:45 a.m. Thursday when she turned down the wrong side of the road and started driving against traffic. An officer traveling in those lanes saw the driver and tried to avoid her. The woman ended up clipping the back of the police car. She then lost control and drove into a large ditch on the side of the road. No one was injured in the accident.

Two Irving Police officers escaped injury Tuesday night after a woman driving the wrong way at high speeds hit them along State Highway 161. Irving officers were notified around 11:20 p.m. that a woman was driving the wrong-way – travelling south in the northbound lanes of the turnpike near State Highway 114. While one group of officers pursued her at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour in the southbound lanes, another officer approached the suspect in the northbound lanes and was struck by the woman’s SUV near Conflans Road in Irving.
