New Orleans Police arrested the driver they say is responsible for a fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 6-year-old boy who was on his way to school Monday morning in Gentilly. The NOPD announced shortly after 1 p.m. that the car suspected in the incident, a dark gray Honda Crosstour, had been located in the 1600 block of Charlton Drive in Gentilly. About 30 minutes later, an arrest was announced but no further details were provided.

Eight people were injured in a crash Monday morning in the Fuller Park neighborhood. A 29-year-old woman driving a minivan west on 43rd Street ran a red light and smashed into a sedan carrying seven people heading north on LaSalle Street around 1:30 a.m., authorities said. A Fire Department spokesperson said three adults were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious to critical condition, two adults were taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in stable condition, and three children were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in stable condition.

Newport News Police have charged a mother with DWI after a crash Sunday night. Newport News Police stated that officers were dispatched to the area of 48th Street and Roanoke Avenue around 9:40 p.m. for a report of a possible accident. There, they found a vehicle in the bushes surrounding a cell tower on the south side of 48th Avenue. Eley said the driver and her three children were in the middle of the intersection. All were cleared medically but the driver had an odor of alcohol.

An El Mirage woman accused of drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident had her 7-year-old son in the vehicle when she was arrested early Saturday morning, police said. Tiffany Pemberton, 31, of El Mirage, faces several charges, including aggravated DUI, aggravated assault, endangerment and hit-and-run with injuries. The hit-and-run accident occurred just after midnight Saturday in the area of 107th and Olive avenues. The two occupants of the other vehicle were injured but are expected to be OK. Pemberton fled the scene and half-a-mile later, ran out of gas.

A crash involving a Town of Kewaskum ambulance, a school bus and another vehicle injured six people Friday, five of whom had to be taken to hospitals, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Conditions were not immediately available on the five, who included three ambulance staff, one patient being transported and the driver of the other vehicle, according to a sheriff's office news release. According to the release, the crash was reported shortly before 11 a.m. at the intersection of State Highway 45 and County Highway H/Badger Road in the Town of Kewaskum.

A 14-year-old girl is expected to survive after being run over and pinned by a car in Waltham on Thursday. Police say an 18-year-old woman driver was pulling out of a parking lot of the Waltham Raquet Ball Club shortly after 3 p.m. when her car struck the 14-year-old girl along with an 18-year-old man. The 14-year-old victim, who has only been identified as a student at Waltham High School, was dragged and pinned under the car. An arriving police officer was able to grab a floor jack from Boston Muffler, Brake & Automotive, which is nearby.

Pittsburgh police are investigating a crash that sent four high school students to the hospital. It happened at Waterman Avenue and Hopeland in Carrick around 8 a.m. Thursday. We're told the students all suffered minor injuries and were taken to Children's Hospital to be evaluated. The school van driver also went to the hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the other car, Luke Milliron, had some cuts on his face but is doing okay. "Ears are ringing a little bit, head hurts a little bit. Besides that, I'm alright," Milliron said.

What felt like a "massive earthquake" was actually the impact of a car crashing through the wall of an Orange County home early Wednesday morning just a few feet from a startled family member. The driver, a man in his 20's, was arrrested for suspicion of DUI, according to Costa Mesa Police. "Our room was just filled with dust and debris, and I thought we were having a massive earthquake and the house was falling apart," the homeowner said. The homeowner said he didn't realize a car was involved until neighbors knocked on his door and he walked outside.

A school bus driver was swaying with poor balance and smelling of alcohol when Winona County authorities responded to a crash. The bus, with five children on board, had gone off the wrong side of Fern Valley Road near Altura and crashed into trees. Karl A. Herber, 54, of Rollingstone, Minn., was charged with three counts of drunken driving and child endangerment after registering a .09 blood-alcohol level when tested more than two hours after the crash Tuesday afternoon, the Winona County Chief Deputy.

Two school buses from the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System have crashed Monday afternoon in Clarksville, and several students have minor injuries. According to Clarksville police, one bus crashed into the rear of another bus near the intersection of Peachers Mill Road and Tiny Town Road about 2:45 p.m. Police said about a dozen students were injured, and a representative for the school system said all of the injuries are minor. Two students have been transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. School officials are working to inform the parents of those involved.
