A woman died Tuesday afternoon when her car hit a pickup pulling a hay trailer in Craig County, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said.

Jeannie Chaney, 42, of Vinita, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck about 4:50 p.m. on a county road six miles south of Vinita.

Chaney hit the hay trailer head-on when it failed to yield at an intersection, troopers said. She was not wearing a seat belt.

With her 8-month-old daughter in the car, Nicole Berg allegedly used her SUV to plow into a car containing her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend.

Berg, 25, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault. She is being held on $50,000 bond.

According to Memphis police, the incident began Tuesday on Oak Road, when Berg saw the new couple outside a 1984 Bronco. Berg, police said, rammed the Bronco, but no one was inside.

A police officer checking on a car that had crashed into a pole on Enfield Street early Tuesday found a man in the back seat who had been shot and a front seat passenger holding 39 bags of heroin.

Fernando Polentino, 24, has been charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell but could face more charges.

"We're not done with charges yet," said police.

The shooting victim is undergoing surgery at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, he said.

A 36-year-old man died in a crash on State Street in Hamden Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews responded to the crash at 2260 State Street, near Ridge Road, around 8:45 a.m. The crash closed State Street for more than an hour.

According to police, Joseph Manacchio, of Hamden, was killed when his vehicle crossed the center line and hit another vehicle driving in the opposite direction on State Street.

Police have identified a man who was fatally struck by a car on a dark and busy Pleasant View road over the weekend.

Pleasant View Police stated Eric James Johannes, 46, of Ogden, died on Sunday of injuries he sustained Saturday night when he was hit by a car as he attempted to cross 2700 North near 600 West.

"This all is still under investigation, but our witness statements and evidence are pointing toward no charges being filed against the driver at this time," police said.

Weather was a contributing factor in a crash that killed a Davidson County woman Tuesday morning, troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 7:20 a.m. on Highway 109 south of Cedar Springs Road near Denton. No one else was in the vehicle.

Troopers identified the victim as a 48-year-old woman from Linwood but withheld her name until next of kin is notified.

The woman was going south in a Dodge minivan when it ran off the road, overcorrected and hit several trees, troopers said. The woman was driving too fast for the rainy conditions, troopers said.

A spin-out accident involving several vehicles has slowed down Interstate 94 northbound near Grange Avenue.
Driving conditions are dangerous to to falling snow and some ice on the roadway.

Several vehicles were spun out, blocking all lanes of the Interstate.

man allegedly crashed a car into two homes Monday afternoon during a police pursuit on the city’s Westside.

The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. in the 400 block of South Harris Avenue. Fire officials say Daniel Radcliffe, 26, crashed into the two homes after losing control of the car he was driving. Police apprehended him afterward.

Only one of the homes had people inside, but no one was injured, fire officials said. The crash caused an estimated $10,000 in damage.

A big rig has struck traffic safety barrels filled with sand south of Elk Grove on southbound Highway 99, causing a big traffic back-up.

The crash, which occurred about 6 a.m. Tuesday, caused about 25 gallons of diesel fuel to leak onto the highway. The traffic appeared to be backed up for 2.5 miles behind the crash near Twin Cities Road at 7:30 a.m.

CHP Officer Rich Wetzel is recommending Interstate 5 for motorist heading southbound from Sacramento.
