Pennsylvania State Police said that they believe alcohol was a factor in a single-vehicle crash that killed a Butler County man and injured two others early this morning in Clarion County.

Joshua Paul Bartley, 24, of East Butler, was driving a Ford F-150 on Greenville Pike north of Stone House Road in Clarion Township when he lost control and went off the right side of the road about 4:45 a.m., state police said in a press release.

The truck started to roll and Mr. Bartley was ejected from the vehicle, state police said. He died at the scene.

A vehicle in San Francisco’s South of Market district fatally struck a pedestrian early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At about 2:35 a.m. the CHP received a report of a pedestrian who had been struck near the Fourth Street on-ramp to westbound Interstate Highway 80, the CHP said.

The pedestrian died at the scene and the driver of the vehicle cooperated with the investigation, according to the CHP.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation and the name of the deceased pedestrian has not yet been released, the CHP said.

A series of crashes on I-43 in Waukesha County forced the closure of the northbound lanes for part of Sunday morning as the turn toward colder weather makes for slippery roads in southeast Wisconsin.

The crashes around 8:40 a.m. Sunday closed the highway northbound at Moorland Road in New Berlin, the state Department of Transportation said, and the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is investigating.

The DOT said just after 10 a.m. that the northbound lanes had reopened.

Eight people were hospitalized following a crash near downtown Nashville early Sunday morning.

A taxi collided with an SUV just before 3 a.m. at the corner of Charlotte and 17th Avenue North.

The taxi driver and his five passengers were hospitalized along with two individuals in the SUV.

None of the victims' injuries were life-threatening.

Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

A pedestrian was killed on Dixie Highway early Sunday after being hit by a taxi, said a Louisville Metro Police spokesman.

The accident happened at about 1 a.m. on Dixie Highway near Katherine Station Road, he said.

The pedestrian, who was only identified as a white male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are not sure if the victim was on the roadway when he was hit, police said. The taxi was at the scene when officers arrived and no other injuries were reported in connection with the accident, he said.

A passenger was killed when the car he was in was hit in a side-impact collision Saturday afternoon in Rockville, Md.

Montgomery County police responded to an incident at Maryland Avenue and Great Falls Road. They found a Toyota Corolla with its passenger side damaged by an Oldsmobile Bravada.

Percival Bellamy, 89, of Kensington, was the passenger in the Corolla. He was transported to a hospital where he died.

A preliminary investigation showed the Corolla turned in front of the Bravada while trying to go left onto Potomac Valley Road.

A fuel spill resulting from an overturned 18-wheeler wreck has closed a section of Interstate 20/59 eastbound near Valley Road, according to police.

Authorities are diverting traffic off the interstate at Exit 118. Drivers can reenter the highway at Exit 119, the Fairfield Police Chief said.

The diversion likely will last for several hours. Davis urges drivers to avoid the area.

Two people died in a car crash early Sunday morning in Rio Rancho, police said.

The driver and passenger of a 2008 Toyota died from injuries suffered in the 1:54 a.m. crash near the intersection of Unser and Southern boulevards, police said. The intersection was closed for several hours.

A 2002 Infiniti hit the Toyota on Southern Boulevard and the Toyota then struck a light pole, police said.

The driver and passenger of the Infiniti suffered minor injuries.

The names of the victims were not released.

An Austin man who died Dec. 29 in a crash at the interchange of Interstate 35 and Loop 410 ran off the road, into a barrier and was ejected from his car, according to a police report released Monday. Sung Min Shim, 37, was driving a 2010 Mazda Miata northbound just before 6:30 a.m. on the Binz Engleman Road ramp leaving Interstate 35 north, according to the report. He continued driving straight into a grassy and muddy area off the road and spun into the concrete barrier that separates the interstate from the Loop 410 embankment, according to police.

A 3-year-old died in a crash in Putnam County on Sunday morning. It happened on U.S. 17 at Clifton Road near Crescent City around 9 a.m. Troopers said Gerard Buchan, 74, was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer westbound on Clifton Rd. when he stopped at a stop sign. When he started moving again, he didn't yield to a Dodge Caravan, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report. The vehicles crashed in the intersection. Ashley Thomas, 29, was driving the Caravan and sustained serious injuries.
