A potato-hauling semi truck toppled over Friday morning near Cedar City, mashing freeway traffic for several hours.

The accident happened about 8 a.m. on Interstate 15 when the southbound truck lost control on Black Ridge, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The truck slid, then tipped onto its left side, blocking the freeway.

A black Mazda driven by a pregnant woman collided with the truck after it had toppled over, UHP reports. The woman and the truck driver were both shaken up and taken to a hospital in St. George.

A 22-year-old woman was fatally struck by a pickup truck early Tuesday morning as she crossed the intersection of Main Street and Antelope Drive in Layton.

Layton police Lt. Shawn Horton said the incident occurred about 6:30 a.m. Jessica Jones of Layton was walking southbound on the east side of the intersection when she attempted to cross.

West Jordan police say a 22-year-old man was killed when his car crashed into a power pole early Tuesday morning. The accident occurred about 12:40 a.m. on the Old Bingham Highway at 5700 West. A West Jordan police Officer said the victim was driving a newer model Mercedes sedan at high speed and possibly under the influence of alcohol when it left the roadway. "He clipped a couple utility poles and then crashed. He was killed on impact," police said.

Doctors say a Brazilian gymnast expected to compete in freestyle skiing at the Sochi Olympics is unable to move, talk or breathe on her own after an accident this week while skiing in Utah.

The Brazilian team doctor said Thursday that 25-year-old Lais Souza is fighting for her life and will definitely miss the Olympics. She was injured Monday when she hit a tree while skiing in Park City.

A five car accident in Taylorsville injured two and took the life of a 3-year-old boy Saturday night.

A truck collided with a car that was stopped at a red light on 5400 South 1300 West, causing a chain reaction crash involving five cars.

The driver of the truck, later identified as Manuel de Jesus Guinea 55, then got out of his vehicle and attempted to blend in with the crowd. But he was grabbed by a citizen and held until police arrived and took him into custody Lt. Justin Hoyal of the Unified Police Department said.

A semi-trailer rig allegedly ran a red light in the fog and crashed into a car in Spanish Fork Thursday morning, killing a 48-year-old man.

A Spanish Fork police Lt. said the accident occurred at 8:14 a.m. in the intersection of 2550 East and Highway 6.

Killed in the crash was Nathan Hales, of Spanish Fork. Johnson said the accident would be investigated by the Utah Highway Patrol due to a possible conflict of interest: Hales is the first cousin of the Spanish Fork Public Safety Director.

The search is on for a woman police say rolled her car and took off. The woman involved apparently has a warrant out for her arrest and the car she was driving wasn't hers.

The accident happened close to 9:30pm Tuesday night, when 33-year-old Marcy Riley rolled her car while going westbound on State Street at Interstate 215.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers are still trying to figure out why the car rolled over. They're not sure if Riley got distracted or swerved to miss something, and they couldn't ask her because she fled the scene after the accident.

A 19-year-old man was fatally struck by a car when he inexplicably walked onto southbound Interstate 15 early Tuesday morning.

A Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. spokesman said 2:42 a.m. accident occurred at 13400 South in Draper.

"[The victim] was wearing dark clothing and not seen by the driver of a 2008 Ford Focus when he stepped onto into the lane from the right [shoulder]," police said.

While the incident remained under investigation, but UHP confirmed that along with other possibilities, it was looking into whether the incident may have been a suicide.

A Friday morning auto-pedestrian accident in West Valley City claimed the life of a 39-year-old man.

The accident occurred about 6:45 a.m. at 2700 West and 4270 South as the victim, who worked at an area grocery store, was crossing east to west.

A southbound compact car, believed to be traveling at 40 mph, struck the victim just as he stepped into traffic, said a WVCPD Lt.

Witnesses, police officers and then paramedics attempted CPR, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene from massive head and chest trauma, Taylor said.

A semi pulling a box trailer was traveling westbound Friday on I-84, when it experienced some mechanical issues. The driver pulled to the right side of the road partially blocking the I-84 on-ramp from Mountain Green. A Honda Accord, was traveling west on the I-84 on-ramp, when for an unknown reason the driver of the Honda did not see the semi and crashed into the rear of the semi-trailer. A medical helicopter was called to the scene. The westbound lanes of I-84 were shut down for approximately 30 min while the helicopter was on scene.
