A Plymouth police officer who was injured in a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon has died. The crash happened on Samoset Street at about 3:00 p.m.
Colonel Timothy Alben, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, identified the officer as Gregg Maloney. “The @MassStatePolice offer sincere condolences to the Family of Officer Gregg Maloney & our brothers and sisters at the Plymouth PD,” Colonel Alben wrote in a tweet.
A 96-year-old man died Monday after his car allegedly swerved into oncoming traffic and ran head-on into a large SUV, police said.
Robert Dill was driving on Circuit Street about 5:40 p.m. Monday when he sideswiped two cars, said a Hanover Police Lieutenant.
He then swerved into the opposite lane and crashed his 2014 Lincoln into a Chevrolet Suburban, said police
Dill was pronounced dead at the scene. The two women in the Suburban were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, said police.
Police have identified the man arrested in a crash that injured two people on I-91 as Julio Perez, 27, of Springfield.
Perez is being charged with operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating with a suspended license.
The initial crash happened just after 1 a.m. in I-91's northbound lane between exits 3 and 4 , according to a Massachusetts State Police official.
Police say a luxury car that was speeding in New Bedford has hit and knocked down a tree, killing the passenger and leaving the driver being treated of serious injuries at Rhode Island Hospital.
Media identified the passenger as 28-year-old Winnitue Montrond of New Bedford. The injured driver is 30-year-old Luismiguel Fernandes of Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood.
Two Boston firefighters died trying to extinguish a roaring nine-alarm fire in the Back Bay on Wednesday.
Lt. Ed Walsh, 43, of Engine 33, and Mike Kennedy, 33, of Ladder 15, were identified by the Boston Fire Department as the two firefighters who were killed battling the blaze at 298 Beacon Street.
There were 18 people injured by the blaze, including 13 firefighters, with injuries ranging from minor burns to broken bones.
The cause of death of the two firefighters is not known at this point.
Three people were hurt when a car jumped the curb in Terminal C at Logan Airport.
It happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
State Police say a 1995 black Lexus sedan pulled up to the passenger pick up lane and stopped. The Lexus then drove over the curb and struck three pedestrians, later identified as Hoa Ngo, 61, Kayla Brown, 25, and Joanne Kemp, 62.
One of the pedestrians was transported by ambulance to Mass General Hospital and the other two pedestrians were transported to Tufts Medical Center, according to State Police. There’s no word on their condition.
A tanker truck driver is in critical condition after his truck crashed on Interstate 95 in Mansfield this morning, officials said.
The driver, who has not been identified, was rushed by North Attleborough first responders to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with “substantial injuries,” said the Mansfield Fire Chief.

Police say a Rhode Island man has died after his pickup truck struck a tree on Cape Cod.
The 50-year-old Woonsocket, R.I., man, later identified as Ronald Conn, died at a hospital after the crash in Falmouth at about 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The Falmouth fire dept. said the impact was on the truck’s driver’s side and the vehicle as wrapped around the tree. It took rescuers nearly 45 minutes to extract the driver.
The driver, the only occupant of the truck, had multiple injuries and his condition deteriorated when he was freed.
The cause remains under investigation.
