A Rosenhayn man was pronounced dead at the scene of an early morning accident Sunday involving a tractor-trailer and a van on the N.J. Turnpike, a state trooper said. The accident in the northbound outer truck lane occurred near mile marker 96 at 1:40 a.m., he said. An investigation is continuing.

John Visconti III, 48, was driving a 1997 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, when it struck a 2001 GMC Safari van that was driving below the speed limit in the right lane, police said.

A motorcyclist was taken to Wake Med with serious injuries after an accident Sunday afternoon on Weston Parkway.

A car traveling southbound ran a red light and struck the motorcycle as it turned left turn onto Harrison Avenue.

All of inbound Harrison Avenue, and one outbound lane, remain closed as of 5:15 p.m.

A man who allegedly hit a good Samaritan at the scene of a deadly crash on a Phoenix interstate has been booked on a felony hit-and-run charge.

He's identified as Alberto Lopez-Ruelas.

A woman who was ejected from a car on a Phoenix interstate and then hit by multiple vehicles was killed. Three other people were hurt.

DPS stated that they received a call at 5:21 a.m. about a vehicle that was blocking the high-occupancy vehicle lane in the northbound lanes of Interstate 17 at Thunderbird.

Sheriff's deputies arrested a man for drunk driving following a crash that killed a pedestrian in Dubuque County early Sunday morning.

The crash happened just before 3 a.m. near Farley. Law officers say 24-year-old Alex Hannan was merging onto Highway 20 when he hit the pedestrian later identified as Dawson Besler, 21, a student at the University of Northern Iowa.. Hannan is in the Dubuque County Jail for Operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Traffic was backed up for more than three hours as crews investigated the crash.

A motorcyclist was dead after a wreck Sunday afternoon in Jefferson County, according to Kansas Highway Patrol records.

The highway patrol identified the victim as Blake A. Sneed, 20, of Tonganoxie.

The wreck occurred at 3 p.m. Sunday on US-24 one mile east of the Perry city limits, a highway patrol accident report said.

The accident report said Sneed was riding a 2005 Honda sport motorcycle westbound on US-24 when he lost control, and the motorcycle entered the north ditch where it struck a culvert. Sneed was wearing a helmet, the report said.

Authorities in Yuma say a Pennsylvania teenager is dead after the car he was riding in crashed into a canal.

A Yuma County Sheriff's Office spokesman says 21-year-old Colton Garrett Whiteside, of Chillicothe, Mo., was driving northeast Friday just after 10 p.m. in a Chevrolet pickup truck when it went off an access road.

Police says the pickup went toward the right and into the Gila Gravity Canal, where it became submerged.

Police says Rural Metro Fire crews transported Whiteside and 19-year-old Kurt Allen Schenker, of Erie, Penn., for medical treatment.

Police in suburban Atlanta have identified a man who died after being ejected from his vehicle during a rollover crash.

Cobb County police said in a statement that 51-year-old Tommy Pierson of Lawrenceville was riding in a 1994 Ford Explorer on I-20 when he lost control Saturday night in Austell.

Police say Pierson hit a truck in the next lane and began swerving again before spinning and flipping over. Authorities say Pierson was ejected and the Explorer landed on its roof against a concrete jersey wall. Police say Pierson was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Michael Giovanni Agosto, 27 of Delray Beach was arrested early Sunday morning after a crash which left his passenger Carlos Montalban, 32 of Delray Beach with critical injuries.

A 2003 Honda motorcycle and 2012 Honda Civic were both traveling north on US 41 about 3:21 a.m. Sunday. As the Civic was stopped for traffic, the motorcycle driver failed to reduce speed to avoid a collision.

A 15-year-old boy is recovering after his leg was severed during an attempt to jump on a moving train. It happened just after midnight at the railroad tracks near 56th Street and Main Street.

Police say Jayson Ahrens was trying to get on the train when his leg got caught under it. Police say he told investigators he was trying to make curfew at the Panama Youth Center.

One person was killed when a small plane crashed near Albany, Ohio.

Athens County reported it happened near the intersection of US Route 50 and SR 32 around 6:35 p.m.

First responders said the pilot, Charles Wagner, 73, Athens County, was the only person in the small four person single engine aircraft.

Wagner was flying the 1972 Bellanca Super Viking to the nearby Ohio University Airport.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating and Federal Aviation Administration investigators have been dispatched to the scene as well.
