The Marion post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed one person Friday afternoon. According to the highway patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. Friday along state Route 309 near state Route 746 in Marion County. Investigators say that 68-year-old Gayle Callahan, 68, of Crestline was traveling west on S.R. 309 when she drove left of center, striking a tractor-trailer head-on. Callahan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured.

Thursday night, two cars hit head-on along Fifth Avenue in White Oak, killing both drivers. Police said Michael Bakosh was driving south towards McKeesport -- speeding, and weaving in and out of traffic. Investigators said he crossed four lanes of traffic and hit a 45-year-old woman head-on, killing her. A friend of one of the drivers, said the tragic accident could have been avoided. A friend was with Bakosh a couple hours before his friend died.

A 22-year-old is dead and a male suspect was critically injured after a chase led to a wrong-way, head-on crash on Interstate 40 in Greensboro Thursday night. Reagan Hartley and the suspect, Ronnie Fichera, 46, were injured around 10:20 p.m. just west of the Patterson Street exit. Hartley died on the way to the hospital, and Fichera was taken to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries, Greensboro police said. The crash happened after Fichera's Ford Expedition exited I-40 west at High Point Road, went around Four Seasons Mall and entered I-40 east going westbound, police said.

One person is dead after a wreck in York County. According to the highway patrol, the accident happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on Dobys Bridge Road. Troopers say William Taylor, 32, was driving east on Dobys Bridge Road, when he drove off the left side of the road and struck a Volkswagen head-on. The 36-year-old driver of the Volkswagen was pronounced dead at the scene. Taylor was not injured. This accident remains under investigation.

Two were men were killed Sunday after a head-on collision involving two motorcycles near Horsetooth Reservoir west of Fort Collins. According to the Colorado State Patrol, at approximately 2 p.m. Ryan M. Gorter, 28, of Boulder was riding a motorcycle westbound on Larimer County Road 38E when he crossed over the center line and crashed head on with a motorcycle driven by Rick Ross, 55, of Loveland. Both men were ejected from their motorcycles. Gorter died at the scene and Ross was taken to the hospital where he died.

Authorities have released the names of the two people who were killed when their vehicles collided head-on while traveling on a Hudson Valley road last weekend. Police in the Ulster County town of Lloyd tell local media outlets that the victims have been identified as 51-year-old Tracey Krug of Plattekill and 50-year-old Wayne Donaldson of Highland.

A head-on crash took the lives of a man and woman early Friday morning just south of Salisbury. Keith Tillman, 34, and Jenny Williams, 31, both of Rowan County, died in the crash, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The wreck happened in the 4900 block of South Main Street near Grace Church Road around 1 a.m. The road was blocked for a few hours while emergency crews worked to clear the accident. The Highway Patrol says Tillman was driving south and crossed the center line, hitting Williams' car. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says two vehicles were traveling northbound on Highway 79 near Winfield around 2 p.m. when they collided. One of the vehicles was sent into the southbound lane and slammed head-on into a truck. The driver of the truck, 48-year-old Dennis Stevens, died at the scene. The other driver involved in the head-on crash was taken to Mercy Hospital in serious condition.

Police do not know why a Durham man drove his Toyota south in the northbound lanes of the Durham Freeway and hit an oncoming vehicle, killing himself and injuring three other men. John Michael Williams, 59, was driving around 9 p.m. Tuesday in the wrong direction on N.C. 147, also known as the Durham Freeway, when he collided head-on with a northbound Jeep driven by Jimmy Allen, 25, of Hillsborough. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police spokeswoman Kammie Michael.

An 18-year-old Oregon woman will be ticketed for her role in a head-on crash Tuesday morning in the Town of Dunn that injured her and another driver. The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. at Highway B at White Oak Trail when Danielle Waldvogel, 18, crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into a vehicle traveling the opposite direction, according to a Dane County sheriff's office news release. The driver of the other car, Ruth Drage, 54, of Middleton had to be extricated from her vehicle by Oregon firefighters, officials said.
