A 17-year-old girl was seriously injured Tuesday morning when she collided with the rear end of a school bus on foggy Highway 89/91 in Cache County. Logan police said the accident report came in at 7:37 a.m. from the area of 800 West and 1700 South. A girl was driving an Oldsmobile Alero westbound on 800 West and because of dense fog did not see the stop sign at the road’s intersection with the highway. She went into the intersection and collided with the rear of the bus, which was carrying more than a dozen children to Adams Elementary School in Logan, police said.

A 37-year-old woman died Monday morning in a traffic crash on the Sam Houston Parkway in southeast Houston. The wreck happened about 5:50 a.m. in the 6000 block of the service road of eastbound South Sam Houston Parkway near Mykawa, according to the Houston Police Department. Police said the woman was sitting a stalled blue Toyota Camry in the eastbound lane of the roadway when a black GMC Sierra pickup, which was traveling at a high rate of speed, hit the car. The woman, who was wearing her seat belt, died at the scene. The pickup driver stopped.

A motorist who rear-ended and killed another driver on Interstate 580 in Livermore on Thursday was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter, authorities said. The collision happened shortly after 10 a.m., when Primitivo Garcia, 53, of Livermore failed to slow his Hummer for traffic and rear-ended a Jeep, causing the Jeep to burst into flames in the westbound lanes near North Livermore Avenue, said the CHP.

A woman and her small daughter died Tuesday when their SUV smashed into the back of a grocery store delivery truck on north Interstate 5 south of the Orange County line. Many drivers who witnessed the crash or saw the wreckage right after were distraught, one woman posted on Twitter. Northbound traffic was halted for nearly an hour. Even after two lanes opened, the backup worsened and extended as far south as Oceanside Boulevard.

An Oregon State Police trooper was injured Friday night when his patrol car was rear-ended as he was wrapping up a traffic stop on Oregon 34 east of Corvallis. Just after 8 p.m., Trooper Don Rummer was finishing a traffic stop and got back into his patrol car when he saw a car coming from behind lose control on the snow- and ice-covered roadway. The car crashed into the back of the stopped patrol car.

A Virginia man died of injuries from a car crash Tuesday after his car collided with another vehicle Monday morning in Manassas. The crash took place at the intersection of Dumfries Road and Hoadly Road at approximately 5:25 a.m. Investigators said the deceased driver, 57-year-old Donald Stephen Rinker of Strasburg, Va., was driving in the same lane as a tractor-trailer and struck the truck from behind at a stop light. Rinker was flown to a nearby hospital where he died Tuesday.

Clifford Corbin, 63, of Cordell died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a Monday morning crash, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. He was driving on State Highway 152 west of Cordell and rear-ended a car stopped on the road attempting to make a turn. Both cars left the highway. Corbin was flown to OU Medical Center where he later died. The driver and passenger of the other car were treated and released. Both drivers and the passenger were wearing their seat belts.

Two separate crashes left police officers in two different counties hospitalized. And in both cases, the drivers were possible intoxicated. The first wreck left a Bensalem police officer hurt after her police cruiser was hit by a van on Sunday night in Lower Southampton Township. Lower Southampton police confirmed to NBC10 that the officer was involved in the crash at Brownsville and Old Street Road around 7:30 p.m. The officer was taken to Aria Torresdale hospital with neck and back pain.

A semi truck was hauling a long flatbed trailer westbound on Highway 285/Hampden bypass when the driver failed to stop at South Clarkson Street, possibly because of a medical condition. The semi plowed into the back of cars that were parked at the intersection, and went on to knock over a power pole. Four people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The semi-truck is from Winslow Crane Service Co., based in Englewood.
