A driver was killed on Monday night in Seminole County after troopers say he drove off the road and struck a tree.

Dustin Kahlmaher, 26, of Satellite Beach, was killed in the crash in Winter Springs late Monday night.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Kahlmaher was driving his Dodge Stealth northbound on Dodd Road just after 10 p.m. when he drove off the roadway and struck a tree.

The crash remains under investigation and it's not clear if alcohol was a factor.

Authorities on Tuesday released the identity of a woman killed in a crash in Bessemer.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Jonirai Wiggins, 23. Wiggins was killed Monday morning on Alabama 150.

The accident happened just after 10 a.m. Authorities said Wiggins was driving her 2008 Nissan Altima eastbound when she lost control of her car and veered into oncoming traffic in the westbound lane.

She collided with a pickup truck, and was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:20 a.m. The truck driver was not seriously injured.

Freeway crash barrels did the trick on Highway 99 when a motorist said her car would not slow even when she stepped on the brake.

The 20-year-old driver told the California Highway Patrol she was driving through Chico about 12:30 p.m. Monday in her Chevrolet Aveo southbound on Highway 99 at about 65 mph when she tried to exit at Cohasset Road. She pressed on the brake but the car would not slow.

The driver decided to stay on the freeway and placed the car in low to reduce her speed. However, the revving of the engine alarmed her so she put the Chevy back in drive.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal car crash.

Troopers said the wreck happened just before 6:30 p.m Monday.

Investigators said the driver of a pickup truck was headed south on Hayne Street in Spartanburg County when the he lost control, ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

The Spartanburg County Corner said Cletus Roper, 52, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.

A 61-year-old woman and an 8-year-old girl were struck on a sidewalk by a vehicle involved in a three-car crash on Monday afternoon in Roxbury near Boston police headquarters, officials said.

The two were hit at about 3:45 p.m. near Tremont and Prentiss streets, police said.

David Estrada, a police spokesman, said the woman suffered a leg injury and the girl had minor cuts on her hands.

The relationship between the woman and girl was not immediately clear.

The two were rushed to Boston hospitals, along with two other people involved in the accident.

A security guard was injured when an alleged drunk driver crashed into a gate at the Naval Yard in South Philadelphia.

It happened around 7:30 Monday night.

Police say the 34-year-old driver was behind the wheel of a Mazda. The vehicle struck the front gate and the guard shack, injuring a security guard.

The 55-year-old security guard was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with neck, back and hip injuries.

The driver, who was not injured, has been arrested.

A Fort Mitchell teen was killed in a car crash early Monday morning at the intersection of U.S. 431 and Uchee Hill Highway.

State troopers say Jana Hobbs, 16, was killed when her car collided with another vehicle. She was a student at Russell County High School.

Alabama State Troopers are still investigating the crash.

A 35-year-old man is hospitalized after a crash that involved a train and a car Monday afternoon.

It happened at 1:30 p.m. at Main Street at Railroad Avenue in Ellendale, Delaware.

Delaware State Police say a 2013 Subaru Impreza was driving eastbound on Main Street approaching the railroad tracks near Railroad Avenue. According to police, the driver failed to stop for the crossing signal and entered into the path of a southbound Norfolk Southern train with three engines and 22 cars attached.

In the Sibley County crash, one driver was killed and another was injured when two vehicles collided head-on shortly after 6 a.m. on Hwy.15 a mile south of Winthrop and about 18 miles north of New Ulm.

Charlan Kaml, 41, of Kimball, Minn., the driver of a northbound 1999 Buick Regal, was killed, and John T. Lott, 33, of Winthrop, who was driving a southbound 2013 Ford pickup, was injured when their vehicles collided head-on in the southbound lane. Kaml was not wearing a seat belt; Lott was.

No one else was involved. Roads were dry at the time, the patrol said.

A motorcyclist was fatally injured today in a collision with a car near the U.S. Naval Base San Diego.

The accident occurred about 12:15 p.m. on Harbor Drive, near 28th Street in Barrio Logan, according to police.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest, SDPD spokesman Gary Hassen said.

No other injuries were reported.
