A Belfield man was injured near here in a rollover crash Sunday.

Thomas Schaff, 44, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after the crash, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

According to a release from the patrol, Schaff was driving northbound on 131st Avenue Southwest about 1 mile south of Belfield when he lost control of his vehicle on a gravel road and entered the ditch.

He was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected as the vehicle turned over. Schaff was airlifted to Bismarck and treated for injuries.

A 35-year-old driver from Wynne died Sunday in a two-vehicle collision on an icy highway in Poinsett County, authorities said.

Johnny M. Hefner was driving a 2008 Chrysler north on an "iced" Arkansas 1 about 5:45 p.m. when her vehicle spun out of control and ended up in the opposing lane, where it was hit by a southbound 1999 Jeep, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Hefner died at the scene.

The other driver, identified as 42-year-old Tammy Kaye Hutchings, was taken to St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro with unspecified injuries, police said.

A 16-year-old girl died on her way to church Sunday morning after her car overturned in a stream about a mile from her Selma home, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

Lanie Margaret Bizzell, was traveling north on N.C. Highway 96 near Dunn Road around 8 a.m. when she went off the road, hit an embankment, flipped and landed upside down submerged in the water, authorities said.

Troopers said Sunday evening that the wreck is still under investigation but that initial findings found that speed was not a factor and that there was no evidence of braking.

The driver of a motorcycle died Sunday night after crashing into a car in suburban West Palm Beach, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash took place at Summit Boulevard and Congress Avenue around 6 p.m. Sunday, said a sheriff’s spokeswoman.

The motorcycle was traveling eastbound on summit and the car was pulling out of a gas station at Summit and Congress.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue personnel declared the motorcycle rider, later identified as Marlody Baker Campos Jr., 24, dead at the scene, police said.

A semi-truck carrying apples lost control and rolled on an ice-covered Highway 97 near Madras early Sunday morning, police said.

At 6 a.m., the driver lost control while traveling downhill and entering a curve near the town of Shaniko. The truck crossed the center line, went off the west side of the road and rolled onto its top, spilling apples across the embankment, according to the Oregon State Police.

The driver got out of the truck with minor injuries. He was taken to a hospital in Madras.

A 34-year-old Beaver Falls woman was killed when her car struck a utility pole Sunday morning in Pittsburgh, police said.

Melissa Tates died when her car hit a pole at the corner of 17th Street and Liberty Avenue in the strip district around 7 a.m., police said.

Police said icy conditions did not cause the accident, and investigators are looking into whether a medical condition contributed to the crash.

An autopsy will be performed Sunday.

A driver is dead and three passengers were taken to the hospital after the SUV they were in struck a tree in Scottsdale.

The accident happened around noon Sunday on Scottsdale Road just north of McCormick Parkway.

The SUV was traveling northbound when the driver lost control, entered the median and slammed into a tree on the east side of Scottsdale Road just north of McCormick Parkway, said Scottsdale police Officer David Pubins.

Northern Indiana authorities say a South Bend woman and her two small dogs have died after a freight train struck her car at a crossing.

St. Joseph County police say the collision Sunday morning killed 60-year-old Vicky Long of South Bend. Witnesses tell officers the woman drove her car around crossing arms and into the path of the train at a Norfolk Southern crossing just west of South Bend Regional Airport.

Police say it appears all warning systems were working at the time of the crash.

Police say a Nissan car heading south on Baldwin Ave. crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist died at the hospital.

He’s been identified as 55-year-old man from Makawao.

As for the driver of the car, he’s been identified as a 69-year-old man also from Makawao, and he was treated for minor injuries.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what led to the crash.

Phoenix police have identified a 4-year-old girl killed in a three-car collision.

Angel Diaz died from Friday night shortly after arriving at a hospital, police said.

Authorities say a woman, who was 7 months pregnant, was driving a Ford Explorer southbound on 83rd Avenue near Osborn Road when it side-swiped a Chevy Malibu going north.

Police said the Ford Explorer continued across the northbound lanes and collided almost head-on with a Nissan Frontier pickup.
