Colorado Springs police have arrested a man who tried to escape through a fire station following a car accident.

Officers caught up with the suspect and arrested him. He is identified as John Krulik and he is facing charges of motor vehicle theft and criminal trespass.

Authorities say an officer was trying to stop a speeding Subaru on Thursday when the driver crashed.

A man is in serious condition after driving into a building Friday morning in North Austin.

Police and paramedics got a call around 3:30 a.m. Friday from Braker Lane near Interstate 35. They arrived to find a silver Honda SUV crashed through the wall of a building.

The driver was pinned inside. Paramedics got him out and took him to University Medical Center Brackenridge in serious condition.

The building he drove into is an abandoned fire station. No one else was injured.

A Unified Police officer who stopped to help a motorist early Friday morning was injured when his cruiser was sideswiped by a suspected drunk, hit-and-run driver on Interstate 215.

The accident call came in at 2:05 a.m. from 245 West and westbound I-215, where the UPD officer had pulled over to assist a stranded motorist, said a UPD Lt.

The officer still was inside his cruiser when a pickup truck struck the cruiser and then drove away from the scene. A Utah Highway Patrol trooper spotted the truck a short time later, pulled it over and arrested the driver.

Police say a North Adams woman has died after her van crashed into a utility pole in the city.

The Police Director says 56-year-old Deborah Pierce was ejected from the vehicle van after she struck the pole near the Hillside Cemetery on West Main Street shortly after 6:30 a.m. Friday.

He says speed appears to be a factor.

SA section of the street was closed during the investigation and to fix the pole.

State police say a man walking along U.S. Route 1 in Saugus was struck and killed by a vehicle.

Police say 55-year-old David Gartland of Cambridge was struck on the northbound side of the highway at about 8:40 p.m. Thursday.

Responding troopers and Saugus police officers found Gartland unresponsive in the roadway in the area of the Ferns Motel.

He was taken to North Shore Medical Center in Lynn where he was pronounced dead.

A man has died after being hit by a vehicle along Warwick Boulevard early Friday morning.

A spokeswoman with the Newport News Police Department said the crash occurred just before 2:30 a.m. The driver, 29-year-old Kegan Michael Bilger of Newport News, called police after the incident.

An investigation found the pedestrian was walking on the side of the road from the Ft. Eustis off-ramp onto the southbound lanes of Warwick Boulevard. Bilger was traveling southbound on Warwick.

A man is in “extreme” critical condition after being struck by an alleged drunk driver Friday night near westbound Interstate 40 and Sixth Street. The crash involved an SUV and another vehicle.

State Police said an officer saw the two-vehicle crash while on patrol around 10:43 p.m. One woman was arrested for allegedly driving drunk. State Police identified her as 32-year-old Michelle Rivera of Albuquerque.

The other vehicle’s driver, later identified as Robert Dilley, was rushed to the University of New Mexico Hospital.

One person was flown to a Columbus hospital after a motorcycle crash Friday afternoon. It was not known if the man was wearing a helmet. State Route 4 was closed in both directions while emergency crews were on the scene; the cause of the crash was under investigation.

A 21-year-old West Virginia man was killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Greene County on Friday night, police said. The man was traveling north on Blockhouse Run Road in Gilmore Township when he struck a dog and lost control, flipping the ATV, police said. The man was thrown onto the road. The identity of the man has not been released.

A Friday morning wreck involving a van and a Quitman school bus on a Cleburne County state highway ended with a woman's death, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary crash report. The school bus was at a stop on Arkansas 124 east of Quitman picking up a fourth child when a Kia van struck the back end of the bus, ultimately killing the van's driver, Martha Bearden, 54, of Guy, the report states. The road conditions were clear and dry, according to the report. The report also lists a female passenger of the van — Phoenix Bearden of Guy, whose age is not provided — as injured.
