Police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian accident involving a Houston Fire Department (HFD) vehicle.

It happened around 12:45 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of S. Jensen near Kennedy in northeast Houston.

Houston police say a HFD vehicle and another car were involved in the crash.

Witnesses say a white car pulled out in front of the HFD vehicle causing it to drive up over a curb and hit a person.

The victim was pinned under the HFD vehicle and died at the scene.

A longtime criminal on the run for months from charges that he sexually abused a young girl in central Minnesota for many years was caught after crashing his vehicle in a ditch, authorities said.

Brian S. Schmitz, 43, of Willmar, Minn., was apprehended Wednesday about 9:15 a.m., more than four hours after a Kandiyohi County sheriff’s deputy spotted a vehicle in a ditch off a private drive about 7 miles north of Willmar, the Sheriff’s Office said.

A car crashed into a home in Northern Travis County Thursday morning.

The Travis County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 3:45 a.m. on Gaylord Drive near Wells Branch Parkway.

Officials say the car drove through a back fence and hit the home. No one was injured in the crash.

Tow trucks arrived to remove the car shortly after. The male driver was arrested by deputies for suspicion of DWI.

State Police are investigating a crash on the Southeast Expressway in Boston that killed a 27-year-old Braintree woman early today, officials said.

Alycia Rice, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, swerved to the left and crashed into a concrete barrier at 3:09 a.m, State Police said today in a statement.

She was extricated from her 2013 Hyundai Accent by Boston firefighters and rushed in an ambulance to Boston Medical Center. She died of her injuries shortly thereafter, according to Trooper Todd Nolan, a State Police spokesman.

The driver of a car involved in a crash in Willowbrook that left a 23-year-old woman dead and three others injured early Thursday was expected to be charged on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 1 a.m. near East 124th Street and South Central Avenue, according to a CHP Officer.

When first responders arrived, they discovered two smashed-up vehicles and multiple victims who had either been ejected or were trapped inside the wreckage, authorities said.

One woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in Oxon Hill Wednesday night. This incident happened on Saint Barnabas Road, not far from the on-ramp to the Beltway. The impact of the crash shattered the front windshield of the car involved.

There's no word on whether the driver was also hurt.

A woman died Thursday morning after she was hit by a car in west suburban Aurora.

The 56-year-old woman was walking northbound in the street on Randall Road just south of Sullivan Road about 4:15 a.m. when she was hit by a northbound 2003 Ford Taurus, driven by a 65-year-old woman, a city spokesman said in a statement.

The 56-year-old was taken to a west suburban hospital, where she died during surgery, Ferrelli said, adding that she suffered "massive injuries" as a result of the crash.

Drivers who use the Poplar Street Bridge to get into downtown St. Louis were being urged to use an alternate route after a tractor-trailer and two vehicles were involved in a wreck Thursday morning.

The wreck happened on Interstate 64 westbound at Interstate 70 around 5 a.m.

Police say one person had to be cut out of their vehicle. Three people were transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

All westbound lanes of I-64 were closed at I-55 until the scene was cleared around 7:10 a.m.

Beaver County woman was killed late Thursday night in a two-car collision on Route 19 in Butler County.

Pennsylvania State Police identified her as Emily Hilliard, 21, of Rochester.

Ms. Hilliard was driving a Toyota Paseo southbound on the highway in Muddy Creek shortly after 10:15 p.m. when she veered off the road onto the shoulder, Pennsylvania State Police said.

She got back onto the road but into the path of a Nissan Altima driven by Susan Graham, 54, of Butler, who struck Ms. Hilliard's car head-on, police said in a press release.

A 19-year-old man was injured Thursday when he was struck by a car in the parking lot of the Metro Square shopping center, police said. Cory Beauchamp, of East Hartford, was taken to Hartford Hospital. Police did not comment on the extent of his injuries but said the accident was "serious." The vehicle that struck him, a 2012 Kia, was driven by 70-year-old Olive Marie Marshall, of Westbrook, police said. The accident happened about 5:10 p.m., according to police.
