Police say a 64-year-old man is critically injured and in a medically induced coma after being hit by a car in Queens Friday night. The man was crossing the street on Northern Boulevard and 41st Avenue when a dark-colored Chevy Blazer hit him, police said. The driver fled west on Northern Boulevard after the accident, according to authorities. The man, who is in critical condition at Elmhurst General Hospital, has a head injury and a broken leg.
Police are searching for one of the hit-and-run drivers who struck a 14-year-old girl who darted into traffic in a busy Orange County intersection. The crash happened Monday in Santa Ana. Surveillance video released Tuesday shows the teen trying to dodge cars at 17th and Bristol streets. First, she is struck by a red pick-up truck, and the driver speeds away. She is then struck again by a black car. Though the video shows her flying into the air and appearing to land on her upper shoulders, the girl suffered leg injuries and has been released from the hospital.
