27-year-old Brett Rainey was riding a motorcycle to the north on Walt Whitman Road at about 5:30 p.m., when he crashed into the passenger side of a southbound minivan that was attempting to turn left into a parking lot. Rainey was brought to a hospital were he was eventually pronounced dead. Neither the driver of the minivan, identified as Lucas McAfee, 18, nor any of his passengers were injured.

66-year-old Ishwer Wadhwa was crossing 5th Avenue at about 8:47 p.m. when she was struck by car driven by Jerson Ventura, 32, who was traveling north. Venture properly reported the accident, and Wadhwa was declared dead at the scene by a physician's assistant from the medical examiner's office.

21-year-old Sherif Wheeler was driving a luxury car south on Grand Avenue at around 4:25 a.m. when he left the roadway, striking a tree, some fencing, and finally the Second Baptist Church. A 20-year-old man that was riding in Wheeler's car sustained some injuries in the crash and was brought to the hospital, and Wheeler initially fled the scene of the accident but was later found and arrested. Some sources say he was unlicensed.

42-year-old Steven Preitz was riding his bicycle in the right lane of Express Drive South at about 10:00 p.m. when he was struck by a car driven by Christopher Chizzoniti, 20. After he was transported to Stony Brook Hospital, Preitz was pronounced dead. Chizzoniti was not hurt and has not been charged for the accident.

A Long Island man died after his SUV crashed into a Huntington residence. James Spillane, 49, of Syosset, was driving his 2001 Nissan Pathfinder when it exited Woodhull Rd., traveled across a lawn and crashed into the corner of a home about 11:30 p.m. Friday. Spillane was pronounced deceased at the crash site. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine what the cause of death was.

Joseph Saccente, 92, was driving a Colonial Taxi to the north on Shore Road shortly after 7:00 a.m., when investigators say he experienced a medical emergency. His vehicle left the roadway and struck a few mailboxes before he crashed into a home with five people inside, causing major damage to the building. Fortunately, no one in the house was injured, but Saccente was severely hurt and pronounced dead soon after he was brought to the hospital.

A 19-year-old male pedestrian was trying to cross Rockaway Turnpike at about 9:15 p.m. when he was hit by a car driven by a 55-year-old man. The teenaged pedestrian was taken to the hospital with head injuries and broken leg bones, but is in stable condition. Neither the driver nor his passenger were hurt, and he will not likely be charged.

Rhondle Carlton Day Jr. was driving a semi-truck west on Long Island Avenue at around 8:05 p.m. when he slowed and swung his trailer to the left in order to make a right turn. A motorcyclist that was behind Day, identified as 53-year-old Leonard Mastro, collided with the back of the trailer and was thrown from his bike as it was dragged beneath the trailer and burst into flames. Mastro was pronounced dead at the hospital the next day; Day was uninjured.

Yeimy Pichardo-Cruz, 31, was turning left out of a parking lot onto eastbound Oak Street at about 9:30 a.m. when she accidentally struck a pedestrian that was crossing the roadway. That pedestrian, identified as 52-year-old Lora Rohner, was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to the hospital. Pichardo-Cruz was uninjured, and the vehicle involved was taken in for a safety check.

51-year-old Sean McKenna had herion in his vehicle and is believed to be under its influence when he struck five separate cars within a third of a mile while driving east on Jerusalem Avenue at about 5:49 p.m. He continued driving after each collision, until his car eventually left the roadway, struck a mailbox, destroyed about 100 feet of wooden fence, and finally crashed into a pole.
