A 26-year-old man was killed in a single-car crash in Geauga County early Sunday, according to the State Highway Patrol. Michael Smith of Rome, Ohio was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash, the Highway Patrol said. The fatal crash happened at 12:18 a.m. on Ohio 86 just south of Ohio 166 in Thompson Township, the Highway Patrol said. Smith lost control of a 1998 Honda Accord, which went off the left side of the road and hit a tree.

Warrensville Heights Police are investigating a hit-skip crash that left a 6-year-old in critical condition at University Hospital’s Rainbow Babies. According to a police report, officers were called out 4657 Walford Avenue around 7:05 p.m. on Sunday, April 13 after a child was struck by a car. Officers arrived on scene and along with the Warrensville Heights Fire Department and located Caylen Holloway, 6, along with his parents.

A Columbia Station couple died about 5:45 p.m. Sunday when the motorcycle they were riding struck a vehicle on Grafton Road. The crash occurred at a sharp curve in front of 36781 Grafton Road about a half-mile north of Mennell Road. The motorcyclist, Robert Willis, was southbound when he rode left of center and collided with the front driver’s side of a northbound Chevrolet Equinox with three people inside, said the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Elyria post. Police said what caused Willis to collide with the Equinox remains under investigation, but accidents frequently occur in the area.

A passenger was killed Saturday night in a wrong way crash of I-480 westbound on Cleveland’s west side. The fatal accident happened around 11:30 p.m. on I-480 WB near W. 130th Street in Cleveland. Officers said the investigation reveals that 40-year-old Julio Cesar Vargas drove his vehicle the wrong way on the I-480 WB exit ramp. Police said Vargas entered the exit ramp and crashed into another vehicle, injuring two people. Desiree Snyder, 22, of Cleveland was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where she was treated, expired, and pronounced dead Sunday.

A 23-year-old Burton man died in a crash this afternoon after he lost control of his motorcycle on Ohio 700, the Ohio Highway Patrol said. Gino Igoe was northbound on the road when his motorcycle crossed the center line at a curve and was struck by an oncoming car around 12:50 p.m.. Igoe was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, the patrol report said. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash that occurred about a quarter of a mile south of Hubbard Road, the patrol said.

Police say an arrest has been made in connection with a Tuesday night hit-and-run that sent an 18-year-old woman to the hospital.

Marquita Afzal, 42, was taken into custody about 9:30 p.m. after a woman crossing Woodland Avenue at East 55th Street was struck by a passing Cadillac CTS, according to officials.

The Cadillac fled, but police caught up with the car near Woodland Avenue and East 40th Street. Afzal was at the wheel, police said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with head and face injuries, police said.

A 2-year-old Ohio girl was killed Saturday after her father accidentally hit her with his car in a Walmart parking lot. The girl's 25-year-old father began driving forward too soon after his family got out of the car in front of a Walmart in Ontario in northern Ohio. The man's daughter had not gotten out of the way and was hit.

Authorities will file homicide charges against a Burton Township man accused of crashing into an Amish buggy on Sunday, killing a 28-year-old man, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Lt. Mark Neff said charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, drunken driving and driving with a suspended license will be filed against Douglas S. Learn, 42. Learn is accused of driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system and slamming into the buggy about 9 p.m. Sunday on Tavern Road north of Ohio 700.

A 20-year-old pregnant woman from Pennsylvania was hospitalized following a three-car crash Sunday afternoon. Jenna Robbins, of Ellsworth, 26 weeks pregnant, was in stable condition following the chain reaction crash on Milan Road near the Sonic Drive-In, Perkins Township, police said. She was treated at the hospital as a precautionary measure, police said, not for any serious injuries.

A man and woman were hospitalized Saturday after a vehicle rollover accident in Brunswick.

The wreck happened around 9:30 a.m. on S.R. 303 near Hadcock Road.

Ohio State Highway Troopers said it appears the injured man went into a diabetic shock before striking the woman's vehicle.

The man's vehicle continued rolling and then flipped onto its top.

Troopers said the two victims were transported by ambulance to local hospitals, but their conditions were not released.
