A 26-year-old man was killed in a single-car crash in Geauga County early Sunday, according to the State Highway Patrol.
A 26-year-old man was killed in a single-car crash in Geauga County early Sunday, according to the State Highway Patrol. Michael Smith of Rome, Ohio was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash, the Highway Patrol said. The fatal crash happened at 12:18 a.m. on Ohio 86 just south of Ohio 166 in Thompson Township, the Highway Patrol said. Smith lost control of a 1998 Honda Accord, which went off the left side of the road and hit a tree. The Highway Patrol said speed might have been a factor in the crash and that Smith was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. The crash is still being investigated.
