New York, NYA 31-year-old man was decapitated by oncoming traffic as he tried to cross the Grand Central Parkway near LaGuardia Airport late Friday night, authorities said.
Fidel Vidal Diaz, 31, of Flushing, Queens, had crossed the eastbound lane of the busy highway and was attempting to cross the westbound lane when he was slammed by 2005 Mustang and then a 2002 Volkswagen.
Diaz was killed by the impact, authorities said.
Police were not sure why Diaz was crossing the dangerous highway. The drivers of both vehicles remained at the scene and were not charged, police said.

New York, NYFive people, including four NYPD auxiliary officers, were taken to the hospital following an accident in Queens Monday afternoon, police say.
The four officers were in an auxiliary vehicle traveling west on 73rd Avenue when it crashed with a sedan going north on 172nd Street in Hillcrest, according to police.
All were taken to Booth Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
It's not clear how the two vehicles crashed but police say no criminality is suspected.
NYPD's auxiliary police volunteer in their local precincts and perform uniformed patrol in their communities.

New York, NYPolice say a 64-year-old man is critically injured and in a medically induced coma after being hit by a car in Queens Friday night. The man was crossing the street on Northern Boulevard and 41st Avenue when a dark-colored Chevy Blazer hit him, police said. The driver fled west on Northern Boulevard after the accident, according to authorities. The man, who is in critical condition at Elmhurst General Hospital, has a head injury and a broken leg.

New York, NYA man was clinging to life and six others were hurt Saturday following a multiple car crash in Queens, officials said.
Witnesses at the scene said the crash may have been sparked by a police pursuit, but cops could not confirm those claims late Saturday.
The carnage began at about 5:30 p.m. when a Honda Civic blew a red light on 99th St. at 57th Ave. in Corona and struck two vehicles — including a Mitsubishi Montero containing five people — before striking two parked cars, officials said.
Paramedics rushed seven people to area hospitals.

New York, NYTwo people were killed in a one-car accident on the Long Island Expressway in Queens early Tuesday.
The crash happened just before 1 a.m. between the Utopia Parkway and the 164th Street exits in Fresh Meadows.
Police say the driver was heading west in an Audi sedan when he lost control and hit a tree, killing himself and a passenger.
They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are investigating the cause, but one eyewitness says the driver was speeding.
The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending family notification.

New York, NYPolice say a person was struck and killed by an MTA bus in Queens Monday evening, authorities say.
The victim was struck by a bus on the Q53 line near the intersection of 74th Street and Roosevelt Avenue in Jackson Heights, FDNY EMS and MTA say.
The victim has not been identified.
It's not clear if slippery roads played a role in the accident. Eight inches of heavy, wet snow fell across New York City Monday.

New York, NYAn off-duty cop was charged with driving drunk after he got into an accident in Queens, police said Monday.
Officer Albert Robles, 37, was charged with driving while intoxicated.
He allegedly crashed into another car 7:10 a.m. Sunday at 47th Ave. and 69th St. in Woodside.
Police said there were no injuries.

New York, NYAuthorities say a Nassau County police officer was injured when he was struck by a car while attempting to arrest a robbery suspect in Queens.
Police say four plainclothes Nassau County police officers approached the suspect at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday on Wexford Terrace in Queens.
Police say the suspect, who was wanted for an armed robbery in Hicksville on Friday, tried to flee in his vehicle and struck one of the officers, pinning him against another car.
Police say another officer fired his weapon, hitting the suspect once in the chest.

New York, NYOne man was killed in a crash on the westbound Long Island Expressway in Queens Thursday morning, one of many accidents that delayed traffic for the morning commute.
Multiple vehicles collided in the inbound lanes near exit 31, at the Nassau County Boarder, just after a light band of snow moved through the region around 5 a.m.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
All westbound traffic was funneled into a single HOV lane as authorities investigated, causing miles of delays into Nassau County for hours.

New York, NYThe first hit-and-run happened in Queens at around 4:30 a.m. when Enrique Clemente-Ovando, 29, of Elmhurst, was struck and killed about a mile from his home, according to cops. The driver fled the crash in a beige Toyota Camry with Pennsylvania plates, police said. Cops said the car was traveling east on Astoria Blvd. when it struck Clemente-Ovando, who was attempting to cross the road near 31st Ave.
