One woman is dead and three other people believe to be women were transported to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning in Willowbrook, the California Highway Patrol said.

The driver of a car involved in a crash in Willowbrook that left a 23-year-old woman dead and three others injured early Thursday was expected to be charged on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 1 a.m. near East 124th Street and South Central Avenue, according to a CHP Officer.

When first responders arrived, they discovered two smashed-up vehicles and multiple victims who had either been ejected or were trapped inside the wreckage, authorities said.

One woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released her name, but the victim’s aunt has identified her as 23-year-old Barbara Caldwell.

Caldwell was a passenger in the vehicle, according to the CHP.

Three other people — including the driver — sustained major injuries in the crash and were transported to a hospital, according to authorities.

The women in the car were all females in their early 20s, a CHP official said.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation.
