Lithia Pinecrest Road reopens after fatal crash

The tractor driven by Shane Howard tried to avoiding hitting the car, and veered to the left. When Howard adjusted back to the road, the rail car attached to his trailer became detached.

I hope the person who caused the accident (car driver) is going to be charged with something and that all the blame will not be put on the truck driver. The trucking company should be held accountable for NOT having the load secured to prevent it slipping.

I drive that road almost every day, and there are a lot of semi trucks using that road, not just for Mosaic. As long as the large trucks are using that road, cyclists should ride elsewhere. It's kinda hard to "share" the road with an 18-wheeler when there is no bike lane. Bikers and pedestrians need to excersice some common sense.. Riding a bike on a road without a designated bike path is extremely risky. My condolences to the family. Hopefully their loss will make others think twice before cycling or walking on that road.
