Woman seriously injured after getting hit by vehicle; bus driver cited.

A woman was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries Friday morning after she got off an RTD bus and then was hit by a vehicle.

A woman was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries Friday morning after she got off an RTD bus and then was hit by a vehicle.

The accident happened about 6:15 a.m. near the intersection of West Alameda Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, according to a tweet by the Denver Police Department.

The bus stopped to let the woman out, but it was not at a bus stop and the bus was not in the lane closest to the sidewalk.

Northbound Sheridan was closed at Alameda as investigators worked the scene, and other traffic was being rerouted. It was reopened just before 9:30 a.m.

Denver Police later tweeted that the bus driver will be cited for two traffic infractions related the accident.
