A 26-year-old woman has died from injuries she suffered when a car in which she was riding collided with a tour bus, necessitating an emergency C-section to deliver her 28-week-old fetus, Phoenix police said.

Machozi Lububim, 26, was initially placed on life support on Sunday, said Phoenix Officer James Holmes.

The baby was in stable condition at a Valley hospital.

Lububim was a passenger in a car driven by a man who ran a red light at the intersection of an Interstate 17 access road and McDowell Road and smashed into a tour bus carrying 40 passengers on Sunday, Holmes said.

The woman was not wearing a seat belt, Holmes said.

No one was hurt aboard the bus, but two children, ages 1 and 3, in the back seat of the car suffered minor injuries.

The 1 year old was not restrained and the 3 year old was in a booster seat, Holmes said.

The driver of the car was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed, Holmes said. He was not injured. The driver was evaluated by police with no signs of impairment.

The bus is from a company that carries passengers routinely from Nogales to Los Angeles, Holmes said.
