Truck driver charged with manslaughter in crash on Route 9 that killed Heidi Bennett.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor has charged a driver accused of being on drugs and causing a fatal crash on Route 9.

A 50-year-old Freehold woman was identified as the victim in Monday’s fiery crash on Route 9, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Old Bridge Police Chief William Volkert said Tuesday.

The family of a Freehold woman who was killed in 2014 when her car was struck by a tractor trailer being driven by a man under the influence of methadone and Xanax has received a $5 million settlement.

A 50-year-old Freehold woman was identified as the victim in Monday’s fiery crash on Route 9, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor and the Old Bridge Police Chief said Tuesday.

Heidi Bennett was killed when her car was struck at about 12:33 p.m. by a tractor-trailer on Route 9 South at the Old Mill Road intersection.

An investigation the Old Bridge Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that a 2002 Hyundai Accent, driven by Bennett, was struck in the rear by the tractor-trailer.

The cause of death has not been determined. The results of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office were not immediately available.

No charges have been filed, but the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The identity of the driver of the tractor-trailer is Stephen Seidl, who was arrested on 04/17/14 on various charges.
