Sandhya Khadka, 17, killed after being struck by a pickup at the intersection of 5th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 115th Street, in the Northgate area of Seattle

A 17-year-old girl died this morning when she was struck by a pickup as she crossed Fifth Avenue Northeast at Northeast 115th Street in Northgate. Sandhya Khadka was walking west around 8:20 a.m. when she was hit by a green Ford Ranger that was traveling south on Fifth Avenue Northeast. She died at the scene. The driver of the pickup was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert officer and was found not to be impaired. The post, which does not indicate if the driver was male or female, says “the driver was released from the scene pending further investigation.” Fatal pedestrian accidents are becoming more common.
