One-car wreck kills driver.

A 29-year-old man was ejected from his vehicle and killed early on Saturday in a one-car accident at Mendenhall and Marcel Cove, Memphis police said.

A 29-year-old man was ejected from his vehicle and killed early on Saturday in a one-car accident at Mendenhall and Marcel Cove, Memphis police said.

The wreck was reported at about 2:06 a.m.

According to investigators, the victim’s vehicle was traveling northbound on Mendenhall, south of Marcel Cove when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

The vehicle went airborne, overturned, struck the street sign, bending it to the ground and then hit a fire hydrant.

The driver was ejected through the driver’s side window while the vehicle was flipping side-over-side.

He was found in the street on Marcel Cove and was pronounced dead at the scene by Memphis Fire Department personnel.

Police are still attempting to locate the driver’s next of kin, and his name has not been released.
