The wreck has the entire community worried for Dickerson and tonight we are hearing from friends and co-workers about the accident.

The crash happened today Stonewall Road and Highway 309 in Byhalia, Miss., right in front of AutoZone. According to Deputy Kelly McMillen, the accident is still under investigation but he notes that Dickerson was hit on the drivers side; resulting in serious injuries.

He and the driver of the other vehicle were flown here to the MED. Saturday evening, cars lined the sidewalk outside the hospital with colleagues, friends and family who are waiting for an update.

"It's heartbreaking to see him in this type of shape, because I've been with him for a lot of years, and I've never seen him going through something like this. We've got a lot of people praying, a lot of churches, friends, relatives. Just hoping and praying that everything is gonna be okay," said McMillen.

As of Saturday evening, Action News 5 does not have an official condition on either driver.

Dickerson is well know in Marshall County and has been in law enforcement for almost 40 years, according to his colleagues. Stay with Action News 5 to hear more from Dickerson's colleagues tonight at 10:00 p.m.

A man's title should not out shine the value of a life. I am sorry to hear your brother is in bad shape. My heart goes out to your family and his children. Just rest in knowing the Lord loves him just as much as "the sheriff" i am sure in the eyes of his children he is much more than the "other driver" he is their hero, their father, their friend, their DAD!! I am so sorry this world places one life more valuable than another but God loves us all the SAME! God bless

Dear anonymous; you can rest assured that the Lord is just as concerned about your brother as well as the Sheriff- He is no respectors of persons- he loves both your brother and the sheriff as well as all of us. And i am truly praying for him and now we have more info also for his children and family. Our Lord is with all of us and thats All we need. Keep strong in your faith. I pray His healing upon both your brother and our Sheriff. Your friend and prayer partner in Christ.

mighI know 'the other driver' as well and it does disturb me that there hasn't been any information about his condition. Everyone is all about the sheriff here, but if it had been me that 'the other driver' hit and injured no one would make a big deal about it and for all anyone else knows I might be a dr who came up with a life saving medical discovery does that make me any better than the other driver? most certainly not, I'm a human being just like the other driver. He has a family, he has kids...he too is important.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the sherif and for the sherif's recovery. Also for my brother who is the "other driver". He too has a family that is worried about whether or not he will survive or ever be the same again. He is the father of 5 young children who cannot even see their dad right now given the state that he is in. My bother is not a part of any law enforcement, or respected authority that would gain such support from the community, but he also is a part of a family, and we also mourn for his recovery as we sit in limbo not knowing what to expect with each passing day. I cannot find any reports of pictures of "the other drivers" vehicle or his status. I want people to see that we all stand equal regardless career or reputation within the community. Please pray for my brother, as I will pray for your sherif.

i hope everything is going to be alright im a stronge belive so get will soon i keep u in my pray an your family
