A Joliet man has been charged for a collision that resulted in the death of a New Lenox man Friday. Jorge I. Contreras, 20, was charged with improper lane use. At 5:37 p.m.
A man was driving on Route 30 when another vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane and struck his vehicle head-on. The man was pronounced dead soon after. Three occupants of the other vehicle were taken to a local hospital with injuries deemed non-life threatening.
Vernon police have identified a woman killed in a crash on Route 30.
Kathleen Jasak, 58, of Vernon, was struck and killed while walking on Route 30 near East Street Wednesday morning. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident closed the road for several hours.
