King says the crash occurred on County Road 231 near Eutaw at 5:30 p.m. The nine survivors were transported to the Green County Hospital in Eutaw, DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, DCH in Northport and Children's of Alabama in Birmingham. Trooper Kind says the deceased were 3, 22, and 30 years old. No arrests have been made.

A street drag racer crashed into a crowd Saturday night in Greene County, killing three people, including a child, state police say. State troopers say the crash happened outside a church on County Road 231 near Eutaw. Among the dead are a 3-year-old boy and a 30-year-old man. Troopers say at least seven others were injured and are being treated at DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa and Children's of Alabama in Birmingham. The driver of the car involved in the crash was not in police custody Saturday night.

King says the crash occurred on County Road 231 near Eutaw at 5:30 p.m. Troopers say a 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass, driven by 22-year-old Maurice Devonte Wedgeworth, also of Eutaw, struck the victims during a street race with a Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The other driver was taken into custody in Huntsville and is being transported back to Greene County.

State troopers said a street race killed three people, including a 3-year-old child, and injured nine others Saturday in Greene County. Wedgeworth is being held at the Greene County Jail, pending further investigation. Hutton and Jhayden were taken to Greene County Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Troopers also have taken the driver of the Chevrolet into custody in Huntsville, and he will be returned to Greene County.

The other driver was taken into custody in Huntsville and is being transported back to Greene County. Maurice Devonte Wedgeworth, 22, of Eutaw, and Clyde Lawson, 27, of Harvest are being held at the Greene County jail. Merritt was pronounced dead after being airlifted to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Authorities transported Hutton and Pippen to Greene County Hospital where they were pronounced dead. Troopers say a 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass, driven by Wedgeworth, struck the victims during a street race with a Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

A.J. McCampbell to speak out earlier this month, asking the public to report drag racing to local law enforcement. Drag racing is both a way to make money and a source of entertainment in Alabama's rural counties. "This is certainly not the first occurrence of drag racing in rural Alabama. Singleton and McCampbell co-sponsored a bill last year that increased the penalties for drag racing. Three people were killed in the Dec. 27 accident on Greene County Road 231 in Eutaw.
