1 killed, 2 injured in head-on collision in Leeds

One person was killed and two others injured, including a child, in a Wednesday night crash in Leeds. Leeds police Chief Byron Jackson said the crash happened at 6:40 p.m. in the 7400 block of Parkway Drive, which is U.S. 78. He said the crash was a head-on collision, but said he couldn't yet release additional details. A 35-year-old woman was killed, but authorities are withholding her name pending notification of her family. A 31-year-old woman and a 3-year-old girl were taken to area hospitals, but there injuries weren't believed to be life-threatening, Jackson said.

Fatal wreck in Leeds claims one life

One person was killed Wednesday in a car accident in Leeds. The accident was reported in the 7400 block of Parkway Drive. Meredith Christine Jones, who was driving a Chevrolet Captiva, collided with a Nissan Altima. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and a baby in the Altima were injured and taken to a local hospital.

Leeds woman indicted in deadly head-on DUI crash

An indictment was issued against 31-year-old Jennifer Schrencongost on Feb. 10, but the records were made public Wednesday. She is charged in the Feb. 3, 2016 wreck[1] that killed 35-year old Meredith Jones, a wife and mother.
