Loftis was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Alabama State Troopers.
Austin Lane Loftis, aged 25 from Duncanville died on the scene of a single -vehicle crash on Indian Creek Road, south of Tuscaloosa. Loftis was the passenger of the 1990 Ford F-150 which left the road then struck a culvert and a tree around 1:40 a.m. last Saturday. Jason Dewayne Simmons, aged 31, was driving the truck. He also suffered injuries and was brought to DCH Regional Medical Center.
The Alabama State Troopers are still investigating the accident, but their initial findings show that Loftis was not wearing a seatbelt.
