The Dothan Police Department says that because of the extensive damage, the two people had to be extracted from the vehicle.
Hartford Highway crash leaves one dead, one critical
Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd said he responded to the crash and pronounced Speed dead at the scene around 3:35 a.m. He said Speed, who went by Jordan, died immediately upon impact from blunt force trauma.
UPDATE: Victims Identified in Thursday Morning Fatal Crash
Alcohol may have been a factor in a fatal crash on Hartford Highway early Thursday morning.
Dothan Police say a 1999 Chevy S10 truck departed the roadway and struck a tree while it was driving along the 2600 block of Hartford Highway around 1:50 a.m. Jeffery Jordan Speed was pronounced dead on the scene, and another person was transported to Southeast Alabama Medical Center before being airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham in critical condition.
