Two North Carolina residents visiting the Valley for the holidays were killed and four others treated for injuries after a three-vehicle collision in Glendale on Sunday afternoon. Robert Kelly, 71, and his wife, Nelda, 70, of Hampstead, NC, were passengers in a white sedan driven by a relative that was struck by a silver sedan in the intersection of 75th Avenue and Bell Road about 3:20 p.m., said Glendale police. The relative was treated and released from a Valley hospital. The driver of the sedan was taken to a local hospital and also expected to be OK, while two people in an SUV that was also struck were treated at the scene. Police said the sedan's driver ran a red light in the intersection and collided with the car transporting the Kellys and SUV that was traveling next to it. Detectives said they do not believe impairment was a factor and were still looking into whether speed was a cause, police said.
