Highway motorcycle crash north of Mesa causes traffic restrictions.

Southbound traffic on Arizona 87 near Gilbert Road north of Mesa was using the right shoulder of the highway to get past a non-fatal motorcycle wreck on Friday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

A motorcyclist was injured after he was struck by a pickup truck Friday morning on the Beeline Highway in Mesa.

The pickup truck failed to yield at the intersection of State Route 87 and Mesa Drive and pulled in front of the southbound motorcyclist, said the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The motorcyclist was able to brake hard, skidding about 90 feet, before colliding with the rear passenger side of the truck just before 7 a.m.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and Arizona Department of Public Safety were investigating.

Police said the motorcyclist complained of lower body injuries.

The pickup truck's driver was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign.
