Man steals Mesa city truck, crashes into pole
A city employee driving the truck stopped to do a welfare check on a person near 1033 S. Longmore when the suspect jumped into the truck and drove off, Mesa Fire Capt. Dean Morales said, adding the man didn't get too far before crashing.
Man injured after stealing, crashing city truck in Mesa
A witness shot cellphone video that showed the man trying to get up. "It took awhile for him to wake up," the woman said while showing the video to 3TV's Ryan O'Donnell.
The truck was stolen near 1033 S. Longmore, where the suspect jumped inside and drove off. However the man didn't get very far before crashing the vehicle into a light pole. He was hospitalized with injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening. His identity has not yet been released.
