The driver of a school bus is dead after the bus crashed through a brick wall Wednesday morning, according to a Phoenix Police Department spokesman. The driver was eastbound on Dove Valley Road just before 7 a.m. and was attempting a U-turn when the bus made a complete circle before crossing the median, striking the wall and stopping just short of a house on a county island just south of Carefree Highway and east of Interstate 17. A Phoenix police Sgt. said a 14-year-old boy and an adult school assistant were on the bus, contradicting earlier reports from the scene. Neither was hurt, police said. It appeared the man driving the bus suffered some sort of medical issue, said a Phoenix Fire Capt. Thompson said police were still waiting for an official cause of death. The bus is operated by the Deer Valley School District.
