Multiple cars involved in wrong-way crash on Interstate 10 in Phoenix

ccording to DPS, injuries have been reported, but the amount and the extent of the injuries are unknown at this time. Eastbound Interstate 10 is closed at Interstate 17 (Stack). Use Interstate 17 as a detour to surface roads. There is no indication when the road will reopen.

DPS: Impairment suspected in wrong-way crash on I-10

A 20-year-old woman, Dominque Goodmond, of Litchfield Park, was driving a rental vehicle westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-10 when it collided head-on with another vehicle in the righthand lane after she drove through the tunnel, Raul Garcia, an Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman said.

Wrong-way driver blamed for crash on Interstate 10

"We're doing everything that we can," said Garcia. "I can tell you from looking at some of these reports that ADOT was contacted immediately. DPS dispatchers obviously calling our officers to get out to the scene and everyone was in response. My understanding is that local law enforcement was also trying to get an aircraft up to help with this but between 2:02 in the morning and 2:08, that 7 mile stretch, we weren't able to get officers to the scene or that assistance to try and stop this collision from happening."
