Martinez was with his friend, 18-year-old Marcos Sanchez, driving along 35th Avenue, around 2 a.m. when their car was hit from behind by another car. The two of them were killed instantly.

Driver in double fatal crash had estimated BAC of .201

According to court paperwork, Garcia had “bloodshot watery eyes, an odor of alcohol, [and] staggered balance,” and a preliminary breath test (PBT) showed a blood alcohol concentration of .201. Anything over .08 is considered legally impaired and demands a charge of driving under the influence.
