Gilbert man among 2 identified in Sedona plane crash

The two people involved in Saturday's plane crash in Sedona have been identified, a spokesman for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said.

McCurry, a pilot with 34 years’ experience, took control of the aircraft making a banking maneuver directing the aircraft in a southern direction and was able to land in a safe area on Chavez Ranch Road, according to YCSO.

Police ID 2 hurt in plane's hard landing in Sedona

Sedona fire spokesman Gary Johnson says it appears the aircraft possibly lost its landing gear when it tried to land on the dirt and gravel road. The plane suffered heavy damage.

Robert Coester was flying in a F-1 Rocket brand single-engine plane with Charles McCurry when the plane lost power. McCurry landed the plane on Chavez Ranch Road. THe plane sustained heavy damage, and both mean sustained injuries. Coester was taken to Verde Valley Medical Center for treatment, and McCurry was flown to Flagstaff Regional Medical Center.The incident is still under investigation.
