The Maricopa County Sheriff's office has identified two people killed in a one-vehicle crash near Tonopah.

The victims were 35-year-old Laura Roberts and 41-year-old Justin Burts.

A passer-by saw an overturned vehicle about 5:30 a.m. in the area of Wickenburg and Baseline roads in unincorporated Maricopa County and later found the victims' bodies several feet from the vehicle, a sheriff's office spokesman said.

The vehicle was believed to be westbound on Baseline Road when it crossed the center line, struck the eastbound shoulder, returned across the westbound lane and rolled in the desert, the spokesman said.

Burts' body was found about 90 feet from the vehicle and Roberts' body about 120 feet away, the spokesman said.

The spokesman said speed appeared to be a factor but it was unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved.
