"There were so many things that she still wanted to do and that we were planning for for her and now we can't experience that with her anymore," granddaughter Layla Baldwin said.
A crash killed a local grandmother near Three Points, Arizona on Thursday. Gracie Baldwin, 80, was killed when a car carrying two undocumented immigrants and their alleged smugglers crashed with her vehicle on Sierrita Mountain Road. Baldwin's daughter, Kelly, was in the driver's seat and suffered a fractured hip, a broken knee and severe bruising. U.S. Border Patrol has said that the vehicle carrying the immigrants sped up at high speed when they realized an unmarked Border Patrol vehicle was following them. The vehicle then crashed with Baldwin's SUV. Authorities have reported that there was no chase. Both alleged smugglers are booked in the Pima County Jail. William Huebbe is charged with an accident involving death and physical injury and failure to stop. Robert Butcher was also booked into jail and faces charges for an outstanding felony warrant.
