The child was a second-grader at St. Cyril's Catholic school, about a block from where they were stuck, a statement from Salpointe Catholic High School on Facebook said. They were walking to school, Salpointe said.

The TPD said it does not appear the driver, who stayed at the scene, was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The investigation is ongoing and no citations have been issued at this time.
