Livingston planning commissioner dies in crash

Michael Silva, 35, died at the scene of the crash, on Campbell Boulevard near Hammatt Avenue, about 6 p.m. Friday, the Merced County Coroner’s Office reported.

Circumstances surrounding the crash were still under investigation. The exact number of vehicles involved was not immediately clear, Police Chief Ruben Chavez said.

One man died Friday evening in a motorcycle crash in the city, the Livingston Police Department reported.

Officers responded at 5:59 p.m. to the area of Campbell Boulevard and Hammatt Avenue, police said.

Circumstances surrounding the crash were still under investigation. The exact number of vehicles involved was not immediately clear, Police Chief Ruben Chavez said.

The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of his family.

“It appears speed may have been a factor,” Chavez said.

Livingston police are investigating the crash along with the California Highway Patrol.
