The identity of the driver was not immediately available. A coroner’s officials said Saturday the victim was a 39-year-old Hispanic man whose name was not being released pending next-of-kin notification.

The driver was identified as 39-year-old Procoro Hernandez of Los Angeles, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department said this week. 
A man was killed Friday night after the pickup he was driving left the road and dropped down a 100 foot embankment in the San Francisquito Canyon. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a report of a car that ran over the side of the road on San Francisquito Canyon Road at approximately 6:30 PM. California Highway Patrol and witnesses identified the site of the accident as being past the intersection of San Francisquito and Stator Lane. Emergency responders included member of the Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue Team. They worked for over an hour trying to rescue the man trapped inside of the vehicle. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was declared deceased at 7:19 PM. We will have more information on this story as new details become available.
