Authorities responded around 2:50 a.m. to reports of a single-vehicle wreck in the 2800 block of Coliseum Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
An SUV found at the scene had crashed into a tree and fully engulfed in flames, officials said.
A resident nearby said she heard a car speeding down the street just before the crash.
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene, and another man in the vehicle was taken to a hospital in serious condition, officials said.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
