A Metrolink train bound for Orange County from downtown L.A. fatally struck a bicyclist Thursday during the morning commute in Santa Fe Springs, officials said.
The incident occurred around 7:10 a.m. near Lakeland Road and Bloomfield Avenue when the cyclist went around an arm gate and was struck by Metrolink train 682, according to a Metrolink spokesman.
No information on the identity or age of the cyclist was immediately available.
About 160 passengers were aboard the commuter train when the incident happened.

Metrolink officials arranged for buses to take the passengers to their final destinations. Other trains traveling between Norwalk and Santa Fe Springs were temporarily stopped as police investigate the scene.
