The California Highway Patrol has identified the 66-year-old Copperopolis man arrested after a head-on motorcycle collision with a vehicle on Highway 1 north on Sunday.
Anthony Perez was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence shortly after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle near 41st Avenue shortly after 5 p.m., CHP officer Leland Adkins said Monday.
Perez and his 27-year-old Ben Lomond passenger were thrown from the motorcycle during the collision and both taken to area hospitals for treatment of severe injuries, Adkins said. He was unable to provide updates on either patient's condition.
Two lanes on Highway 1 was shut down for about an hour after the accident, CHP officials said.
